Our Part in Vector Control

What is a vector?

A vector is any insect or arthropod, rodent, organism or animal of public health significance capable of harboring or transmitting the causative agents of human disease, or capable of causing human discomfort or injury.

Vector Control can help you after you have a problem, but by following a few simple steps you will avoid having a problem with pests in the first place!

Keep your living and working areas clean.
Don’t leave open containers of food or drink unaccompanied in your offices or living areas.
Dispose of trash properly in a covered trash can both inside and outside your home or building.
Inspect work and living areas for holes in building. Report or repair any cracks around doors, windows through which you can see light.
Avoid outdoor activities between dusk and dawn when mosquitoes and flies are most active.
Wear long-sleeve shirts and pants when engaging in outdoor activities during these hours.
Apply approved insect repellents containing active
ingredients such as DEET, Picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
Keep tight-fitting screens on windows to prevent mosquitoes from entering your office or home.
Eliminate all sources of standing water around your offices or living areas.

THROW FOOD AWAY, KEEP WORK AND HOME NEAT  & IN GOOD REPAIR AND COVER UP OUTDOORS!
